From a news leak on 2chan about a week ago, it was rumored that orders for the Sakura Miku nendoroid would open starting on the day of Miku’s birthday, with a price of 3900 Yen. As it turns out, this information was correct!

Information & order page: http://www.goodsmile.info/product/en/3655/Nendoroid+Sakura+Miku.html

The nendoroid comes with some very cute poses and accessories, all which makes the slightly high price of 3900 Yen ($50 USD) seem all worthwhile (I see what you did there, Goodsmile). The shipping will be 2000 Yen ($26), but the shipping price remains the same for up to 3 nendoroids. Pre-orders will be open until the 24th of September, Japan time. This leaves slightly less than 4 weeks to make your reservation.

Orders are expected to ship starting in March 2013, which is 6 months after pre-orders end. This means that she’ll arrive just in time for Spring! The time to grab one is now, folks! Or anytime before September 24th… Your choice. >_>

It is now midnight in Japan on August 31st, which means it is now Miku’s 5th birthday. 5 years isn’t very long, but we’ve seen a lot happen within such a short time. What was expected to be just another typical vocal synthesis product, took the internet by storm. Miku has helped spark events leading to a future of consumer generated media, and created a massive web of creativity and collaboration that spans the entire globe. The reach of the Vocaloid movement now has no bounds, and continues to grow at an immeasurable pace.

From a boxed product, to a virtual idol, to a live performance diva, to a water stage princess… No one could have predicted any of this happening in just 5 years. I don’t know what expect to see happen in the next 5 years either.  All I know is… I’ll continue to be there to watch and cheer for you. Thank you very much for everything, and Happy Birthday!

The Natsu no Owari no 39 Matsuri water stage concert in Yokohama from the previous night was certainly an interesting one. According to the statistics, the servers broke 100,000 viewers. That’s a lot of people trying to see the concert at once!

The performance itself was only 35 minutes long, and the second half was the main event (the first half was just PVs from Project Diva f). If you somehow missed it or got kicked, and you’d like a summary of what happened, check the images in the full story! At the end, you’ll also find the newest video showcasing all the modules from PjD f. Enjoy! Continue reading »

Just a little over 24 hours ago, t.Komine released a new song to Nicovideo titled “永遠に幸せになる方法、見つけました。”. His most notable prior music piece was “This is the Happiness and Peace of Mind Committee“, which amassed over 1 million views within a single month. The sudden explosion in popularity even took him by surprise, as he talked about in his interview with Yamaha Vocaloid.

His newest release uses a similar style and the same illustrative artist as his previous song, so he appears to be trying to recapture the same effect his last video had. Needless to say, it worked. The video broke 120,000 views in a single day, and is currently rising at a rate of about 15,000 views an hour (It’s sitting at 153k+ views as I’m writing this).

t.Komine has an official YouTube channel, but this video is not yet printed there. Even worse, his channel goes virtually unnoticed despite his insane popularity. So if you could show your support to this artist, it would be much appreciated.

EDIT: A YouTube version is now available from his channel, enjoy!

Nicovideo version also available.

On the heels of the Voca Nico Night celebration event, we have yet another major concert coming up that will be live streamed to nicovideo on the evening of August 29th, Japan Standard Time.

Link to stream page: http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv103480127

If you follow Miku’s page on Facebook, you would have seen the announcement about an upcoming water stage performance, and that’s essentially what this performance will be. The concert opens its doors on August 29th at 17:00 (5:00 PM) JST, and the concert starts at 19:00 (7:00 PM) JST.

Free users will be able to watch this event as well, but you will need a nicovideo account to watch it. If you do not have one, you can simply register an account at niconico.com, and use that account on nicovideo.

To avoid getting kicked from the stream, switching to the lower quality stream is recommended. You can do this by clicking the text below the player that says “低画質モード”. However, you should note that free users can still be kicked from the lower quality stream to make way for premium nicovideo users.

Have fun and enjoy the show!
